Since we have been having several issues here as of late i'd like to take a few moments and point out some rules and guidelines for some of our raids that are taking place to not take away from anyones time. Now for some time we have been having ongoing issues with punctuality to our raids. This is not fair to others when in the raid when they show up a half hour early with all their consumables and reagents stocked up.
Rule #1: Be on time to the raid! If the raid starts invites ate 8:30, be ready by 8:30. Preferrably even say 8 instead so that you could even assist with organizing the raid. Being there early means you can help summon others to possibly even start earlier than the actual start time.
Rule #2: Have all of your consumables and reagents purchased BEFORE invites go out. This also applies to ammunition. I really dont wish to see anyone getting into a raid and getting to the first boss and realizing they are out of arrows or bullets etc. Not a good idea.
Rule #3: If you are holding the raid back, expect to be replaced. This includes being late, going afk during the instance and just not keeping up with the damage. We cannot afford to carry players through entire instances. In karazhan on the first couple bosses it is generally not a big issue to do so. However once we get to curator and beyond the instance becomes much harder and more taxing on each player. Run Heroics and take up crafting to get better gear for kara if your gear is mainly greens. To go into kara the majority of your gear should be lvl 70 blues and should consist of a couple epics.
Rule #4: The Raid Leader has the floor at all times as well as final say. Do not challenge the raid leader during ANY raid. If you are removed for a reason and disagree, you may take it up with myself or another officer not currently in a raid, or the raid leader that removed you when his raid is finished. It is fine to talk here and there and joke around on vent but when the raid leader asks for silence, give it. I like to run my raids fairly casual so people enjoy being there but some bosses require complete attention.
There may be more being added to this at some point in time. Officers and others may feel free to reply with suggestions for other rules.
Some basic raiding guidelines would include speaking with class officers to get a spec that works best for raiding. Other suggestions as mentioned before are to pick up proffessions to work on gear. Enchanting can be done by myself and Tiaan to further your gear. Althalus and Tholdin are jewelcrafters if you need help there. Its not as hard as some people think to get gear enough to get into kara, it takes some communication and a little bit of time and effort.
Raid Alliance Rules Rule #1: If you notice something was done incorrectly by someone, either send a whisper to one of our officers, or directly to the raid leader. Some of the other guilds dont like being told when they do something wrong in front of everyone. they would rather hear it in a whisper from a raid leader or someone else as a suggestion instead of a statement to do something a certain way. People have feelings and can be touchy.
Rule #2: Watch what you say in the alliance. Its fine and dandy to joke and make fun of people in our guild as we do that often and know were joking. However some of the people in the alliance take it offensively as they do not always know we are joking. Also some of them get the feeling like we are talking down on them during some raids. And also dont be a greedy bastard blatantly over vent. If your greedy as hell, then keep it to yourself. dont go bragging about loot you get and dont complain when you dont win loot. keep it out of the alliance if you feel the need to do such.
Some basic raiding guidelines would include speaking with class officers to get a spec that works best for raiding. .... and gear.... and some idea of how your class is supposed to function in a raid setting.
I can't adequately stress the importance of this.
If you're a dps class and you're really low on the damage meter/swstats or you're pulling agro all the time, FIND OUT WHY AND FIX THE PROBLEM. (Do you clip your autoshots, are you missing/getting resisted a lot, are you having trouble targetting the skull?)
If you're a healer and you can't seem to keep up, FIND OUT WHY AND FIX THE PROBLEM. (Are you overhealing, are you missing cleanses, are you having trouble adapting when healing assignments change, are you dying a lot [fyre, lol]?)
If you're a tank and you can't hold agro, FIND OUT WHY AND FIX THE PROBLEM. (Do you know how to manage rage, are you clear on the positioning of fights, are you aware of CC and do you break it with thunderclap/consecrate?)
Read about your class and how to perform well in raid situations. Class officers can be very useful AS SOMEONE WHO CAN POINT TO GOOD RESOURCES.
But please: DO NOT EXPECT YOUR CLASS OFFICER TO BE ABLE TO TEACH YOU HOW TO PLAY THROUGH WHISPERS. THIS IS WORK YOU MUST DO ON YOUR OWN.
Class officers can help you understand what you're reading, but they will not read and summarize FOR you.
Meanwhile, a class officer is much more willing to help someone who has shown that they have been working independantly to improve. Post in your class forums (on guild boards and the official boards as weel as other community sites.
There are SO many good resources from guilds and servers who are much farther along in the game than we are. These resources should not be overlooked.
Ok, obviously this post is dragging on and on, but I'd really like to make sure that our guild has the best players on the server at our stage of PvE content.
PvP, you're all scrubs.....
imo

Very good points Shaved, i knew we keep you around for something :P
And yes, as he stated class officers wont be able to tell you everything you need to know. We are also players first and foremost on a game that we like to play. Its not fun to log in and constantly help others to have fun and have no fun for yourself.
get with your class officers and see if you can get all of your class into a certain channel for example commhunter for hunters in our guild. This would be a good idea if you wish to use it for everyone on at the time to discuss specs or something. Not meant for full blown discussions but its easier than asking in guild what skill point is recommended for a certain level. If you dont like the idea then fine dont use it. just a suggestion of mine.
All the officers here are here to try and better the guild by helping the members to be better. as you all may or may not know, we cant just tell someone how to do it all. They have to be willing to make changes and learn on their own as well. In a way its like college all over again.. eww i cant believe i just said that. But it is .. officers will point out some key features and give resources to look at. But you must have it in yourself to heed the advice and use said resources while practicing it on your own. I will be the first to say i have never really read the mage forums. I skimmed over them when i first started but didnt read all of them. I have adapted to my class by playing it for so damn long. When the BC talent wipe came out, i figured out what spec would be good for raiding because by then i knew my class fairly damn well. So it takes time and effort more or less.
Same goes for gear... you need to work at it. find what instance has good gear for your class and in what instance. Get a group and get in there to get it.
I reread my post and thought of something people might infer from my words.
I DO NOT mean to say that you should cookie-cutter some spec that seems "good" or popular.
the most common survival raid spec is 0-20-41, for mortal shots in MM.
My survival raid spec is 7-13-41, for 5/5 IAotH and 2/2 FF
It's all playstyle, but:
haste procs
2% passive dmg buff
20% critical strike chance on Kill Command
I lose:
1 point in Go for the throat, but I crit so often that the last point is a waste
Aimed Shot..... rofl, this is the most useless dinosaur talent the class has
5/5 Mortal Shots- this one hurts, bad. I lose 30% bonus damage to all ranged crits.
But, 15% haste for 15-20% of the fight along with 2% more total damage competes with this and "wastes" fewer talent points
This is not a decision I can help you make. Lanelia prefers 0-20-41 for raids, and I don't blame him. It's far more straight forward.
Class officers can and should suggest talent builds. But you can't expect to spec a certain way and just do well without knowing how really make the most out of it.

Exactly. Hence my point about saying you can see the resources but must learn on your own and apply that knowledge. As my boss always says, someone said knowledge is power and that is not right. The application of knowledge is power. We can give you every resource in the book in this case, but if thats not your play-style or your just not comfortable with it, then it DOESN'T work for you. Learn the class, learn the talents, learn why they are useful, and figure out what style you like and try it. Chances are if you know what your doing you can make a good build that your accustomed to that works well.
Ive never actually read an arcance/fire talent build.. i think mine works well though... but i could be wrong. If you know the talents you can build a viable raid spec that works well for you. That is the key. It must be something that suits you. That or you have to get yourself used to someone elses build and figure out what they have to use to make it worth while. which some of it you may not agree with. Another good idea is try a talent cookie cutter and see what you think then fine tune it to suit you. Either or works. The forums also have different people with different opinions on talents. they will usually explain why somethings used. review it and figure out which modification works best for you.
Thats actually not a bad idea.. we have one for our gruuls raids. But as of yet we have healers in different class so we should probably look into that. good question.

And the only reason why I'm -not- Shaved's Spec, (because honestly, can we say Huntard King?), is because my gun is too fast to allow for the haste. I already am pushing my shot rotation as it is, trying to throw in an Arcane or Multishot without slowing down the weave. Perhaps when we kill Prince tonight, and he drops the bow, I can respec to the Shaved spec, or a small variation on it anyway.
