Of course they are. Think of how pissed the other classes would be if their classes not only failed to match their established archetype, but did match another existing and established archetype?
Mages are necromancers. Priests are enchanters. Rogues are bards. Druids are shaman. People would be enraged.
Yet our paladins are clerics. Funny that many are ok with that.
Except that this is a seperate world designed in their lore. Paladin's as a class came about (in blizz lore) due to HIGH death rates of the priests/clerics in battle. Thus was born the Paladin class, a plate wearing healer.
If you wish to get technical about fantasy Archetype's, at least have the common courtesy to learn the lore of the game you are playing.
I enjoy the ret spec a lot, I had even more fun with prot, but I find my niche' as a holy paladin.
Do I wish bad things for the other specs? No that would be akin to cutting off one foot because it was slightly shorter than the other.
I truly hope ret receives a decent buff. Prot, not really sure why it needs a buff, Our OT in kara is a damn fine tank, but I'll leave that to the pro experts, not my place to say buff or not buff it.
And for people such as glaive? Your version of a paladin is everquests. I've played it, enjoyed it for what it was, came back to wow and really enjoyed the versitility of the wow pali.
Buff ret, buff the OP's IQ a touch, Buff Glaives Lore a bit as well, and we're gooooood.
