I don't know about you guys, but Kara is starting to really cut into my time to farm... and I'm broke and in debt as a result. If anything had dropped for me last night, it would have sat in the bank until I had enough gold to enchant/socket it.
This means 2 things:
1) I'm not going tonight. You guys can, and I'll even help walk you through fights and set up the raid.
2) Next week's raid (i.e. the one starting tomorrow), will be a try-out for the raid leader for the following week.
What the try-out means:
Let me be clear about this up front: This is my idea alone, and the guild leadership (i.e. Tenath) still holds all final decisions about raid leaders and member status within the guild.
1) I'll basically let 3 different people lead the raid this coming week- one each day (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday).
2) I'll be in the raid and in vent for any help necessary, but the raid is basically yours: your boss choices, your group choices, your strategies, your decision when to call it for the day.
3) Loot rules will not change (1 drop per person per boss; priority is based on raid usefulness, and then usefulness outside of the raid in that order [i.e. Shaved can only roll on +parry/+stam gems if the tanks already have them]; players who perform heroic acts that save the raid may be given 5-10 extra points on their roll (but you have to say it before rolls start, and it's got to be spectacular!).
4) Decisions made by the raid leader must be dealt with by the raid leader, meaning that I won't put out your fires for you or apologize to any rogues you don't want to bring. If anyone has a problem with how the raid is run, they can file a complaint with me, but I'm not going to resolve disputes. Likewise, if you piss somebody off while you're raid leader, don't expect it to be without consequences.
What happens if I'm chosen to lead next week's raid?
You decide if you want to, and then I go farm. If you need help, ask for it, but I'm not going along. It's your show. Make people proud.
How are the three try-out people chosen?
Tell me you want the job, and I'll decide who gets it. It's possible that all of this is a giant waste of time for me to be trying. It's also possible that I'll have 20whispers for this when I get on tonight.
Why the hell would I even want to do this? I mean, you run a pretty efficient raid, Shaved. Just charge people gold to get in imo.
Oh, you silly nubs, that would only cause resentment, guild drama, and strife.
But you could be chosen to... wait for it....
Lead Kara group 3!!! (still unofficial, but we'll likely have one in 2 more weeks)
But, no, I'm not giving up my position as raid leader for group 2. Just taking a break to level my engineering and make money!
